Nefarious Congress Tracker Terms

Nefarious Congress Tracker is an operator-run filing poster, not a public App Directory product and not a command bot. Operators configure one Discord channel. The process:

• Periodically fetches publicly reported U.S. congressional securities transactions (periodic transaction reports and similar disclosures required of members of Congress) from third-party aggregators of that public data.
• Stores those public records so the same filing is not posted twice, then sends a Discord embed to the configured congress channel when a new filing appears.
• Pushes the same public dataset to the Nefarious Congress Trading pages (https://www.nefarious.trading/congress-trading), which are limited to approved members who sign in with Discord.

Typical embed fields: politician name, ticker, buy or sell, disclosed size range, trade date, filing date, optional leaderboard rank and yearly-return figure, and party/state when the source provides them. The bot does not take trade tickets, does not execute orders, and does not reply to member commands. Source filings remain public records; we republish a short summary for community awareness.

Nefarious Congress Tracker runs on Discord. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Nothing here overrides Discord. We may remove the bot, rotate tokens, or change the destination channel to stay within Discord’s platform rules, including privileged-intent limits.

Third-party filing aggregators and the public legislator datasets we use to enrich member profiles have their own terms. We do not claim those publishers endorse Nefarious.

Posts from Nefarious Congress Tracker are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice and are not a recommendation, offer, or solicitation to buy, sell, or hold any security, option, future, currency, or digital asset. A congressional filing is not a signal, and a leaderboard rank is not a performance promise.

Nefarious and the operators of this bot are not registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, commodity trading advisors, or financial planners, and have no fiduciary duty to you. We do not create the underlying disclosures. Members of Congress file periodic transaction reports on a statutory timeline that can lag the trade by weeks. You accept that:

• Size is often a range (for example $1K–$15K), not an exact fill.
• Names, tickers, sides, dates, or party/state can be missing, delayed, duplicated, or later amended.
• Leaderboard ranks and yearly-return figures are derived from third-party aggregations. They are not audited performance and are not typical results.
• Our poller, host, or Discord send can fail, so a filing may never appear or may appear late. We cap how many embeds go out in one cycle so a backlog does not flood the channel.
• Past coverage or speed is not a promise of future coverage or speed.

Confirm any fact with the official disclosure before you act. We are not liable for trades, missed trades, or other decisions made after seeing a bot post or the website tracker.

Discord’s privileged-intent form asks why a bot needs Message Content, Server Members, or Presence. This bot does not need those three. The client is constructed with discord.Intents.default(), which leaves Message Content, Server Members, and Presence off. Application code only resolves the configured channel and calls channel.send with an embed.

Privileged intents

• Message Content: not used. The client never reads Discord message text. There is no command prefix, no slash-command handler, and no on_message listener. The bot only posts embeds.
• Server Members: not used. The bot does not welcome members, assign or inspect roles, ping role lists, or enumerate the member list.
• Presence: not used. The bot does not read online, idle, DND, or streaming status.

What we actually use

• Guilds — resolve the configured congress channel ID
• Guild Messages — send filing embeds with channel.send (no member content is read)

Guild Messages (sending) is a standard intent, not a privileged one. We do not justify Message Content with welcome messages, leveling, or invite tracking — this bot does none of that. You may not use Nefarious Congress Tracker or its posts to:

• Present filings as personalized advice, a solicitation, or a guaranteed outcome.
• Imply that Nefarious executed, endorsed, or copied a congressional trade.
• Scrape, resell, or systematically republish the feed in a way that violates a source’s terms.
• Attack, spam, or impersonate the bot, Nefarious, or the filers.
• Violate Discord’s rules or applicable law.

Operators may mute, move, or remove the bot at any time. We may stop a source or the entire process without notice.

• You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to rely on this community’s trading tools. The bot is never directed to children under 13.
• You must be able to lawfully use Discord and any broker you choose.
• Adding the bot to another server is an operator decision. This is not a public consumer product offered to everyone.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO Nefarious Congress Tracker WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE BOT IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (typically none; the bot is not sold as a standalone product) OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50).

Some places do not allow certain limitations. Those limits apply only as far as local law allows. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded (including fraud). This section works with the site-wide limitation of liability and Section 13 of the site Terms.

We may update these Terms by posting a new version at this URL. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update is acceptance. If a change is material we will try to note it on the legal hub.
