Wex trades options and stock swings off macroeconomics and institutional financial data, fundamentals first and chart technicals second. Every alert carries a thesis explaining why the trade exists. He runs a hedged book, so some positions are there to protect others rather than to make money on their own.
( 02 โ HOW HE TRADES )
How he trades
- 01Know which of his two formats you are readingOptions alerts give the strike, the expiration and the price per contract, with a thesis, but no stop-loss and no target. Share and ETF swings give a cost average, an SL and a TP level. Only one of the two hands you the exit.
- 02Check the risk rating on the alertMany of his options plays are labelled with his own rating out of five. A 5/5 is a deliberately speculative play, in his words high risk high reward, not a core position. Size it as what it says it is.
- 03He scales out rather than slamming the exitPositions get trimmed in chunks with runners left open, and he averages down into names he still believes in. Closing your whole position at his first trim is a different trade to the one he is running.
- 04Hedges are not standalone tradesSome entries exist to protect something else: puts against a high-beta long, defensive sector calls when money rotates out of tech. Taking the hedge without the position it hedges leaves you with a naked directional bet.
- 05If the thesis makes no sense to you, sit outThe thesis is the trade. He is acting on sector rotation, options flow and fundamentals, so copying an entry whose reasoning you do not follow means you will have no idea when it has stopped working.
( 03 โ ALERT FORMAT )
What his alerts look like

Wex โ Entry alert
Options entry
โBought NVO calls: 3/5 risk. Strike: $47.50 DTE 10/16 Price per con: $1.84. Thesis: Bounce off of support and I wanted healthcare exposure.โ
His options format: direction, his own risk rating, the strike, the expiration date, what he paid per contract, and why. Note there is no stop-loss or target here. Managing the exit is on you until he posts one.
Share or ETF swing
โBought KORU: Port 10% of swing port. Cost avg: $24.52 SL: $21.20 TP level 1: $30.40. Thesis: Memory sector turn around.โ
His share format, and the one that comes with levels: position size as a share of his swing portfolio, his average entry, a stop-loss and a first take-profit. This is the format you can follow most directly.
Trimming and exiting
โTrim 50% of CRWV puts at a 60% gainโ
Exits are announced in stages with the percentage attached, and runners are often held afterwards. Losses are posted in the same plain format, for example cutting a position for a stated percentage loss.
( 04 โ BEFORE YOU FOLLOW )
Notes and warnings
- His options alerts do not include a stop-loss or a take-profit level. Only his share and ETF swings do. If you need managed exits on every trade, this is the thing to know before following him.
- He trades leveraged ETFs, including 2x products. They reset daily, so they are not equivalent to holding the underlying: in choppy markets volatility decay erodes them even when the stock ends flat. Treat them as short holds rather than positions to sit in.
- He posts corrections when a fill price was wrong. Check for a follow-up message before acting on an entry price.
- A trade labelled 5/5 risk is speculative by design. He sizes those accordingly and expects some to fail outright.
( 05 โ TERMINOLOGY )
Terminology
| Short form | Meaning | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| DTE | Date to expiration | The expiry printed on the contract, e.g. DTE 9/18. |
| Price per con | Price per contract | What he paid for one contract. Multiply by 100 for the dollar cost. |
| Cost avg | Average cost | His average entry price across everything he has bought in that name. |
| SL | Stop-loss | The exit level if it goes against him. Given on share swings, not options. |
| TP level 1 | First take-profit | The first target where he starts trimming, not where he closes out. |
| Trim | Partial sell | Selling a portion and letting the rest run. |
| Runners | The remainder | What is left open after trimming, held for a larger move. |
| DCA | Dollar cost averaging | Adding to a position to improve the average entry price. |
| LEAPS | Long-dated options | Contracts expiring a year or more out. |
| 2x | Leveraged ETF | Tracks twice the daily move of the underlying, in both directions. |
| Volatility decay | Decay from daily resets | Leveraged funds reset daily, so choppy markets erode them over time even if the stock ends flat. |
| Risk n/5 | His risk rating | His own call on how speculative a trade is, 5/5 being the most. |
| High beta | High beta | A position that moves harder than the broad market. |
